Miyoko Wheeler has been a valued member of the Yarraville Community Centre team for 14 years, contributing across a variety of roles and helping to shape the centre’s vibrant learning community. Throughout her time at the centre, Miyoko has worked in administration, shared her expertise as a Japanese language tutor, and now leads the centre’s short course program as Short Course Coordinator.

Originally from Japan, Miyoko brings a wealth of experience in education and community engagement. Before moving to Australia, she successfully ran her own English language school in Japan, teaching students of all ages and fostering a passion for lifelong learning. Her background as both an educator and administrator has given her a deep understanding of the needs of learners, tutors and the broader community.
Miyoko’s dedication, cultural knowledge and commitment to accessible education continue to make her an integral part of Yarraville Community Centre, where she works to create engaging learning opportunities that connect and enrich the local community.
